Option 2 - Local District Training Program Certification

For Teaching Grades P-12

You are a candidate for this route if you:

Have a bachelor's degree with a 2.5 GPA (exceptional experience may be substituted for GPA requirement);
Have passed required written assessments in the specialty area;
Have completed a 30-hour course of study in the specialty area or have five years of exceptional field experience related to the certification area being sought;
Have an offer of employment from a school district that has an approved training program.*

Additional Information: After successfully meeting the requirements of the one-year training program, the candidate receives a one-year Provisional Certificate and participates in KTIP. Upon successful completion of the internship program, he/she receives the Professional Certificate.

*The EPSB currently has an approved program in Jefferson County. For more information contact Jefferson County Public Schools at (502) 485-3011 and ask about the ACES program.
